Elder Eileen spoke to something so real - the noise in our minds. Many of us know what it feels like to be weighed down with constant thoughts, worries, or even replaying past hurts. The world calls it "mental noise", but the Bible calls it anxiety and worry.
We looked at the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19:9-13, who went from calling down the fire from heaven to sitting in a cave, overwhelmed, fearful, and even praying for death. But in his darkest moment, God didn't show up in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire- He came in a gentle whisper.
The truth is- a noisy mind doesn't mean a faithless heart. Even the strongest believers wrestle with these battles. But God meets us in the middle of the noise and gives us shalom-peace.
Practical ways to quiet our minds:
- Short breath prayers like "Jesus, give me peace" or "Lord, I trust you".
- Replacing noise with Scripture, even just one verse at time, like "Be still and know that I am God".
So today, let's remember - God isn't asking us to be perfect or never anxious. He's inviting us to turn down the noise and tune into His peace and His presence.
God bless you, SLC
